FW: DailyOM: Half-Full Consciousness

Half-Full Consciousness
Starting from Empty We are all familiar with the metaphorical story of two people looking at the same glass and one perceiving it as half-full while the other sees it as half-empty. As much as we've heard this, it's still a valuable exercise to really observe our minds and notice whether we are engaged in half-full or half-empty thinking. People will refer to themselves as being of one type or the other as if it was a permanent characteristic, but we are all capable of shifting into a half-full consciousness if we simply make the effort.

When we look at our lives with half-empty consciousness, we perceive a lack and think that the other half of what we want is missing. We are coming from a position of expectation and entitlement. On the other hand, when we look at our lives as half-full we perceive fullness. It is as if we recognize that our cup could be fully empty and so we are grateful for what we see as bounty—not something we expect or believe we are owed, but a gift. In half-full consciousness, we count our blessings. When we look at our lives we see all the elements that are in place and all the things we do have. This doesn't necessarily mean we don't seek more, but we seek from a place of fullness instead of from a place of lack. This fullness draws positive energy into our lives and often attracts more abundance.

If you would like to begin to make the shift into half-full consciousness, try imagining your life as an empty glass. This is your life without all the people you know, the work you do, your home, or your current state of physical wellbeing. This is just an empty, open space waiting to be filled. Once you have that feeling of openness in your mind, begin filling it with all the people, things, and places that make up your life. You may be surprised to find your glass overflowing.

Naysayer Nellie...GO AWAY!

Ok so I'm laying in bed this morning catching some shut eye because I couldn't sleep last night. Last night upon laying down I set my alarm for 8:30 a.m. with the hopes of waking up energized to have a "full" day of accomplishing all the items on my agenda. As a habit I hit my snooze a few times. This morning I continue to hit my snooze for a whole hour because of not falling asleep until after 3 a.m.

The first few times of hitting snooze I was too tired to hear "her", but then she crept in criticizing me for not getting up and getting my day started. You know her...that little voice that says despite your best efforts you are still not good enough. In some varying degree or another we all have her.

So for today I am going to tell her Naysayer Nellie...GO AWAY!

Thrifty Tuesday

My creative excursion: Looking for items to use in my craft room.

1.) 11 small tin molds. I got these at my local thrift store. All for $1. I am not sure what I am going to do with them yet, but I thought they may end up in my craft room holding some of my small scrapbooking supplies.

2.) 8 corked bottles. I have a weakness for bottles of varying sizes with corks in them. Fortunately these were all FREE from my mother. The tall ones I like to group together on shelves and the small one I always endup filling up with something around the house.

3.) Black metal trash bin. This will be used in our spare bedroom which I will also use as my craft room. I thought it was pretty affordable at $7 and had a lot of character.

4.) 8 small brown transferware(?). I just really like these and for $3 I couldn't pass them up.

5.) 4 small tin molds. All for $.75

6.) A white wire hanging basket. I will more than likely put this to use in my craft room. This was another FREE item from my mother.

7.) A woven purse. I like to hang a group of woven bags and purses together.

8.) 3 books to add to my collection. all for $3.

9.)Large glass jar. I am thinking of using this in my laundry area to hold my laundry soap.

10.) Large basket. I can't make up my mind, yet where I will be using this, but I know I have a few options.

11.) 2 large glass canisters. Will be used for pasta in my pantry.

12.) 2 canvas bird prints. I thought these were unique. Something that I don't normally come acrossed in the local thrift store so I sprang the $4 for them. They will go perfectly in our spare bedroom.

13.) 4 white pedestal holders. Another weakness of mine. All were different from what I currently have in my other collection. $4 for the group.

14.) 2 vintage flower pins. $.50 I couldn't pass them up.

15.) An old doorknob. I seen this on a door at my Mom's while I was rummaging throught her "junk" goodies and couldn't resist. As my sister said in a phone call are you "shopping" at Mom's again. I may mount them to a board to use as a hanger in our spare bedroom.

16.)Wooden dish rack. I had been pricing these for awhile, but didn't want to spend the money so I am exceptionally blessed to have gotten it from my mom for FREE.

17.)2 peg coat holders. One was $2 and the other free.

18.) A wire freezer basket. I am going to put this to use in my craft room a.k.a. spare bedroom.

19.) 4 metal shelf holder. These will hold two shelves above my desk in my craft room. A summer yardsale find for only $2.

20.) Large gold urn. This will be getting a new paint job and then will have a home on our front porch.

Naked Ladies Party (NLP)

Get together a bunch of girlfriends (10-15) and have everyone bring in gently worn items and accessories they don't wear anymore. It's obvious (I think) but I'll still state this: The items should be clean and in good condition with no major damage.

Here are some guidelines for hosting a party:

-#1: Sort items by category. Place all the shirts together, all shoes in one group, and so on.
-#2: Swap. Guests visit the various piles and try items on.
NOTE: The swapping process has the potential for conflict. One way to avoid competition and hurt feelings. One of the most creative is to hold an auction where a designated "auctioneer" holds up an item, describes it - size, fabric, brand - and takes "bids" (raised hands instead of cash) from the "audience." Those interested try on the item to determine who should receive it. If there is a "tie," a closed-eyes vote is held to select the "winner."
-#3: Donate unclaimed items to charity.

Woman at Heart Website

One of my favorite websites. I always look forward to getting my email from this website.

Who are we as women—at heart, at essence?

Society prescribes how women should be. But is this what we yearn to be in the stillness of our souls? How well do we know—and live—the truth of our hearts?

This is both an exhilarating and challenging time to be a woman. It’s exhilarating because women everywhere are awakening to our self-worth and inner power. It’s challenging because so many of us are still imprisoned in outdated beliefs and practices that steal our joy and limit our contribution to life.

Personally, I want more for my life—more balance and sanity, more health, freedom and laughter. I want to be a happier, more loving member of my family.I want to serve and help heal this beautiful planet.

What do you yearn for? Whatever it is, I want to help you find it! Please join me in exploring who we are as women—at heart.

Let’s build our wealth by sharing our stories!

As women, we heal and empower ourselves through sharing our stories. We heal when we feel free to speak our truth. And when we hear the words of other women, we open to new dimensions of ourselves.

I have experienced my greatest awakenings in the company of women. In their warm and caring embrace, I have found acceptance and respect. No matter how I am on any given day, I am welcomed and loved. And through such open-hearted acceptance, I have found strength and inspiration inside of me!

It takes courage and perseverance to live a conscious life. Venturing into new frontiers becomes much less frightening, much more possible when others are there with us and for us. And in these rapidly changing times when we often find ourselves groundless, connections with others become a crucial lifeline.

Please join this circle—to share, to support and be supported, to celebrate, to probe, discover and uncover new realities for sane, healthy living. Let’s create new choices for how we live as individuals and care for those we love.

Let’s bring our authentic natures to life!
Together, we can do this if we:
· Honour the truth of our lives now – our pain, our frustrations, our fury and despair as well as our caring, creativity, passion and joy.
· Become more aware of what holds us back. We need to see clearly how our present cultures still dishonour the feminine. With awareness, we create new choices for ourselves.
· Uncover and express who we are at heart – our authentic womanhood.
· Explore ways to create a new reality of fulfillment, sanity and health for ourselves and the planet.

We hold the energy of healing.

Having worked over the Internet for 5 years, I’m convinced that the energy that brings healing in face-to-face circles works equally well over much greater distances. I’m confident that as the size of the women at heart circle builds, so too will the energy that will spur our personal and collective growth and deepen our consciousness.

My greatest dream is to build an online global circle of women who are committed to living more consciously. My many circles of dear friends are supporting me in this venture, and collectively, we are eager to support you.

Please explore with us the idea that this network can generate energy that will nourish and empower us all. I hold the vision of women at heart offering you sanctuary, inspiration, revelation, celebration and transformation!

BLESSINGS OF A WOMEN’S CIRCLE
“How might your life have been different if there had been a place for you? A place for you to go … a place of women, to help you learn the ways of woman … a place where you were nurtured from an ancient flow sustaining you and steadying you as you sought to become yourself. A place of women to help you find and trust the ancient flow already there within yourself … waiting to be released…” -- Judith Duerk

A haven. A sanctuary. A temple. These words describe my different women’s circles. I heartily encourage every woman to find or create a circle for herself. We learn so much about ourselves when we are immersed in a safe and accepting environment. "Community. Somewhere, there are people to whom we can speak with passion without having the words catch in our throats. Somewhere a circle of hands will open to receive us, eyes will light up as we enter, voices will celebrate with us whenever we come into our own power. Community means strength that joins our strength to do the work that needs to be done. Arms to hold us when we falter. A circle of healing. A circle of friends. Someplace where we can be free." -- Starhawk

Our beloved planet is in desperate need of women who have moved from self-loathing to self-love, from self-criticism to self-celebration.------Patricia Lynn Reilly

The Mermaid Chair

Last night I finished this book and wanted to share a line from the book that I love. It is for all of those women out there that are "looking for love in all the wrong places".

"Belonging to myself allows me to belong more truly to him"

Take time to commit to yourself before committing to someone else. Take time to know yourself well enough to know what will make you happy and what your needs are. That is the message of this book.

Captivating: Unveiling The Mystery of a Woman's Soul

by: John & Stasi Eldredge

Being the person I am...always questioning the deeper meaning to life and walking along a spiritual quest of knowing myself better a friend of mine suggested this book to me. I wanted to share the portions of the book that spoke to me. I have not completed the book yet, but as I do I will continue to share more.

"The mystery of the feminine heart was meant to be a good thing, by the way. A source of joy. Yet it has become a source of shame--women almost universally feel that they are "too much" and "not what they should be. And men tend to pull awya from the deeper waters of a woman's soul, unsure of what they will find there or how to handle it."

"There are reams of what you ought to do to be a good woman. But that is not the same things as knowing what the journey toward becoming a woman involves, or even what the goal really should be. The church has not been a big help here. No, that's not quite honest enough. The church has been part of the problem. Its message to women has been primarily "you are here to serve. That's why God created you: to serve. In the nursery, inthe kitchen, on the various committees, in your home, in your community." Seriously now-picture the women we hold up as models of feminity in the church. They are sweet, they are helpful, thier hair is coiffed; they are busy, they are disciplined, they are composed, and they are tired."

"Every woman I 've ever met feels it--something deeper than just the sense of failing at what she does. An underlying, gut feeling of failing at who she is. I am not enough, and I am too much at the same time. Not pretty enough, not thin enough, not kind enough, not gracious enough, not disciplined enough. But toom emotional, too needy, too sensitive, too strong, too opinionated, too messy. The result is Shame, the universal companion of women. It haunts us, nipping at our heels, feeding on our deepest fear that we will end up abandoned and alone."

"We feel unseen, even by those who are closests to us. We feel unsought---that no one has the passion or the courage to pursue us, to get past our messiness to find the woman deep inside. "

"Think about it: God created you as a woman. "God created man in his own image...male and female he created them" (Gen. 1:27) Whatever it means to bear God's image, you do so as a woman. FEMALE. That's how and where you bear his image."

"We think that you'll find that every woman in her heart of hearts longs for three things: to be romanced, to play an irreplaceable role in a great adventure, and to unveil beauty. That's what makes a woman come alive"

"There is something fierce in the heart of a woman. Simply insult her children, her man, or her best friend and you'll get a taste of it. A woman is a warrior too."

"And it's not just the desire for an outward beauty, but more--a desire to be captivating in the depths of who we are."

"Don't you recongnize that a woman yearns to be seen, and to be thought of as captivating? We desire to possess a beauty that is worth pursuing, worth fighting for, a beauty that is core to who we truly are. We want beauty that can be seen; beauty that can be felt; beauty that affects others; a beauty all our own to unveil."

"A woman in the presence of a good man, a real man, loves being a woman. His strength allows her feminine heart to flourish. Her pursuit draws out her beauty. And a man in the presence of a woman loves being a man. Her beauty arouses him to play the man, it draws out his strength. She inspires him to be a hero."

"The longings God has written deep in your heart are telling you something essential about what it means to be a woman, and the life he meant for you to live. Now we know--many of those desires have gone unmet, or been assualted, or simply so long neglected, that most women end up living two lives. on the surface we are busy and efficient, professional, even. We are getting by. On the inside women lose themselves in a fantasy world or incheap novels, or we give ourselves over to food or some other addiction to numb the ache of our hearts."

"Something deep in my heart whipered that I too, was more than met the eye."

"How deeply and universally women struggle with their self-worth"

"In one last flourish creation comes to a finish not with Adam, but with EVE. She is the Master's finishing touch."

"Given the way creation unfolds, how it builds to ever higher and higher works of art, can there be any doubt that Eve is the crown of creation? Not an afterthought. Not a nice addition like an ornament on a tree. She is God's final touch, his pie'ce de re'sistance. She fills a place in the world nothing or no one else can fill."

"Step to a window, ladies, if you can. Better still, find some place with a view. Look out across the earth and say to yourselves, "The whole, vast world is incomplete without me. Creation reached its zenith in me."

"Most women define themselves in terms of their relationships, and the quality they deem those relationships have. I am a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend."

Frugal Girls!

I have found alot of great ideas from this blog. One idea that I will be trying out for myself is a post on April 22nd, 2009 on how to organize coupons. I have at different times clipped coupons, but always given up due to the lack of an organization system. The time spent on going through my coupons seemed to out-weigh the benefits. This system looks like it is a system made just for me!
