HomeGoods StyleScope - I'm a Country Casual

Chastity, you are a Country Casual

Your home expresses your open, easygoing approach to life.
You love unique finds, and can turn a few mismatched garden chairs or floral teacups into a charming arrangement.
You appreciate a pretty mix of relaxed pieces, like painted wood or weathered furniture, lovely florals and other patterns, lots of throws and pillows, mementos and bunches of fresh flowers that give your home a unique sense of breeziness and charm.
You value creativity.
You are stylish and fun loving, and can be an inspiration to others.
You have a natural sense of drama, and you know you have to be willing to take risks—whether with colors, finishes, furniture choices, or ideas—for your home to stand out. Your home can be happy and lively and the place all of your friends want to be.

Putting Your Style to Work!
With your style and needs in mind, here are a few tips that will help you make your home a little happier.

1. Your Design Challenge: ORGANIZE The front hall sets the mood for your entire home. Consider how to accommodate all the room's functions as beautifully as possible. At the very least you need a console, and if you're short on storage, consider a dresser. Outfit the surface with nice trays and bowls for mail, keys and sunglasses. Keep a trash can for immediately tossing the junk mail. Closet-door or wall hooks encourage coat and bag hanging rather than dumping. If you have children, try to give each a basket in the closet for hats and gloves. It's nice to have a chair or bench for changing shoes, a mirror for last-minute lipstick checks, and a lamp or sconces for warm light.

2. Your Happy Place Make this room as comfortable and inviting as possible by bringing in some real furniture like an armchair or a sofa if you have the space. A little lamp on the counter or decorative hanging light can set the mood. Stools are great perches and can easily be moved around. Don't forget to bring your personality and style into this room: hang some art or display a collection of family photos in mixed frames. Consider bold, happy colors in the kitchen as well, like brightly colored pots and pans, big bowls for corralling fruits and vegetables, and trays for spices, oils, teas and pepper mills.

3. Be Party-Ready All the Time! Mood: Nice, flattering light makes us feel good. So nix the harsh, direct light from overhead fixtures in favor of the softer glow from floor and table lamps. Also, keep some votive candles and a couple of hurricane lanterns for setting around the room.Scent: The first thing you notice about a home is how it smells. Use naturally fragrant cleaning products. If you find a scented candle or fresh potpourri you love, stock up on it. Any scent you like, whether perfume or linen spray, can be used on upholstery, bedding or just spritzed into the air.Food: Devote space in your pantry or on a shelf for go-to party essentials: crackers, dip, chips, nuts—whatever you like to serve. Keep on hand a collection of attractive bowls and cocktail napkins, and you'll be able to set a spread—instantly!Drink: The simplest and chicest thing is to have a drinks tray or table always set up. Include a mix of pretty glasses, an ice bucket, a lovely pitcher, and bottles of soda and water. When the bell rings, just add ice and limes.

Word of Heart: Picture Your New Year

PICTURE YOUR NEW YEAR
"What is a vision? It is a compelling image of an achievable future."
-- Laura Berman Fortgang

Hi everyone,
For many years now, three dear friends and I have gathered at the start of the New Year to create personal mandalas, also known as vision boards.
Armed with scissors and glue and great food, we pour through old magazines searching for the perfect words, pictures and images to capture our current dreams for ourselves. We then artfully arrange (or just plaster) those images on bristol boards in colours of our choice.
This is a spontaneous expression of magic. It never ceases to amaze me how we each find the perfect symbols to match our personal hearts' desires. And as we can now call upon years of experience of this, we each know the power of these mandalas, hung in offices and bedrooms, to inspire and reflect our lives over the course of the year.
Do we have goals set before we embark on this adventure? Not usually. We might have identified specific words like 'fun' or 'abundance' that we'd like to see posted but we never have a solid agenda for what is to be created. This is very much an intuitive process. As such, we get proof every year that our higher self is very present and active in guiding our paths. This is always very good news!
I urge you to try it. Do it on your own or gather soul sisters and make a party of it. Be sure to keep your mandala visible throughout the year so you can periodically connect with it and be reminded of those lofty visions that are ready to manifest for you. Because that's what this is all about -- bringing dreams to life.
This is way more fun than New Year's resolutions!
~ Patrice
P.S. Next week, I'll be releasing my program for the 7 key steps to empowerment. Watch for it!

This is the Year to Manifest Your Heart's Desire

In months ahead, you can find the truth of your soul. What has been hidden will be revealed. This is a time to listen to your dreams and intuitions and to watch for signs. The universe is whispering to you. When you listen, you'll make the right choices. Step out of the fog into your radiance. Focus on what you're grateful for and (as much as possible) don't gnaw on the problems of the past. Embrace this coming year with pleasure and delight. The theme for 2010 is "energy follows thought." Your thoughts will become your new reality with increasing speed. Please don't waste this precious window of time.

Here are some things that you can do in the days ahead to take advantage of this powerful time.

Create a "Vision Seed Collage" for the Future

Creating a collage for your desired future works because it gives form to the unseen. The process is a ceremony of creation that facilitates your dreams coming true. Here are some suggestions: Don't try to find photos of the exact "things" that you want. Instead, use photos or words that give you the "feeling" that you desire to experience as a result of attaining your desires. It's much easier to manifest what you want when you are in touch with the "feeling." Also, do not put anything on the collage that makes your subconscious scream, "That can't possibly happen!" Your collage needs to feel attainable and possible. Place your collage in a place where its energy can be absorbed by your subconscious.

Create a Magical Miracle Box

This is similar to the creation of a collage, but it's more fluid. Decorate a box—it can be cardboard, wood or plastic—and around the outside edges write: "Thank You! Thank You!" And on the inside lid write: "Whatever is written in this box is So!" Then, on slips of paper, write your desires . . . as if they have already occurred. When something manifests remove the slip of paper...and you can add more if you like. Put special objects into the box such as crystals or flower petals. Place it in a special place to help manifest your dreams.

Make a Manifestation Spirit Stick

Decorate a stick with yarn, beads, moss, feathers, etc. with your intention and prayers for the coming year. Every part represents a different aspect of your life in 2010. Leave it outdoors for 24 hours, preferable in a place where the morning sun can touch it. Then hang it inside so it can radiate that energy into your year.

These three seemingly simple things can make a huge difference in your coming year. To go to a class to learn more about these things please go to my website DeniseLinn.com and then to the link to Soul Coaches to get a Soul Coach to set up a class for you.

May this coming year be filled with immense blessings and love!!!
