House Haven Tour: {twenty}something

Hello!  I am Heather from {twenty}something.  I am so happy to share with you why my home is our haven.
Home Haven (3)
I grew up in a busy house of 8!  I fought a minimum of a 30 minute commute to work, church and college and thought it was normal.  I moved to downtown Jacksonville for a few years and lived the crazy military life just miles off of a base.  When it came time to decide where we would call home, we chose my husband's quaint town on Dahlonega in the North Georgia mountains.  We still have a 30 minute commute to the high school where we teach, but sometimes you won't pass a car!  We stay busy teaching, sponsoring clubs, coaching and working out, so our time at home MUST be calm, peaceful and beautiful so we are ready to get up and press repeat the next morning.

Every room starts with the paint colors.  We chose Sherwin William blues, greys, greens and off whites to pull of the light and inviting feel that we wanted.
We also incorporate many white accessories and details.  It creates the crisp and clean look that makes us happy.
Home Haven (10)
We are both nature lovers who love to be outside.  We chose to use many natural elements in our decorating.
We have also made it our top priority to create a comfortable home.  When we are here, we recharge and reconnect.  We have blankets, pillows, quilts and cushions all over!

Another thing I do to create our haven is keep fresh flowers in the rooms.  This is so easy to do!  Publix has a great assortment of flowers for $4.00 a bundle.  They last at least 2 weeks.

Although our house is our haven, it is in no way perfect.  I would be lying if I told you this post wasn’t a challenge to write.  I felt like our house wasn’t “done” enough to post this (you will notice empty shelves and picture frames with no photographs/art in them as well as blank walls that need filling).  I felt that it had to be perfectly clean to capture a few pictures (would you call me crazy if you knew that I even refilled the Glade with a new cartridge and used my scented Swiffer wipes before I took pictures?).  I want to paint my living room end table and the yellow frame in the current mantelscape but didn’t have time before this post needed to go out.  However, I learned that if I waited for my home to be done, I would never snap a picture!  Sometimes, my style changes with one look before I even finish it!  All in all, I love to be surrounded by beautiful things, and this is just a little taste of what we choose to do to make our home our haven.
Please come and visit me over at {twenty}something sometime!
Heather

House Haven Tour: La Famille

Hi Everybody! I'm Alicia and I blog over at La Famille.
I'm here today to show you my house. So come on in....
Here she is, a 1932 two-story stucco. Isn't she pretty? :)
I love the vines in the summer and her stateliness.
She's settled down in the middle of South Dakota.
Inside is full of character. We searched forever to find an old house that had loads of character that we didn't have to do a ton of work to.
Here's the living room...
And dining room.
The main thing we did to this house was paint. The colors were bad. Really bad.
It's amazing how much a little paint can do.
The kitchen is one of my favorites. It's bright and it faces the backyard, which is great for watching little kiddies.
At the top of the stairs is the sunroom. It's a great room for reading and snuggling.
We love that house....
but we don't live there anymore.
Back in October we made a huge move
to Asheville, North Carolina.
Now we don't really have a house. We are renting a townhome while we get settled and figure out where we want to be in this new city.
Our townhouse is new and not really my style, but it's super convenient and it's been a fun challenge for me.
Here's a few snaps...
Being here in this rented home has given me time to rest and reflect on how much I love my nest.  I am so looking forward to house shopping again and making another old home ours.
Thank you so much for touring my homes with me; old and new.
Come visit me at La Famille anytime! :)

Winter Wonderland & A Lunch Date

002

A late Winter storm dumped a ton of snow on us last night. I love the snow hanging on the trees and bushes.

008

My oldest son and I headed out today for a lunch date & hair cut. All my time has been spent on the baby so I thought he needed some MOM time too. He was in the middle of growing his hair out but, decided to chop it all off.

Before After

018

We had a fun afternoon doing a little shopping, grabbing a treat at the bakery, his hair appointment, and lunch  I was trying to capture the day through photos and as you can see he was getting irritated with me for snapping too many. .

A Yummy Treat

048

We had a visitor today who brought us some yummy cookies from the bakery.
It is so nice to have visitors who bring little gifts with them. Right now the company is welcomed and appreciated being that I haven’t gotten out that much lately.

I can’t wait for Spring so that we can get out for walks in the warm, sunny weather! Michigan has been very dreary this last week or two.
