The theme over at YOU CAPTURE this week is
Outside.

Queen Anne's Lace is
a favorite wildflower
of mine.
Once I seen the theme
I thought "perfect!"
 it gave me the
 motivation to get outside
 and get some photos
of the flower.

I was also pulled over
by another barn
that I couldn't resist
 taking a photo of.

This Hit Home For Me

This song and video really hit home for me today. I was laid off from my job in a public school a year ago. I worked there for 8 years. It was a tough hit when it happened.
It wasn't due to my performance or personality; It was due to my seniority in the union and budget cuts. Northern Michigan isn't a place where you can just go out and find a good job waiting for you and in our current economy it has been tough. I took a part time position in my local Intermediate School District, but that is less than 15 hours a week. I like the position I am in and it keeps my skills current, but who can live on 14 hours a week. Any ways a friend of mine sent me an email that contained this song and although I had heard it before it didn't hit home for me until I saw the video. Along with the video is a website that gives more details on the people featured in the video. Seeing the video made it better for me today and that meant a lot.

Strong Woman
Empowering Feminine Energy

A woman’s sense of compassion and inner voice demonstrates the depth of her strength.

So often in our world we tend to think of strength as a quality that arises from a place of firm determination and a will to succeed no matter the cost. Even though we might want to think of a strong woman as being defined in this way, what really makes a woman confident is her capacity for listening to her true self and being able to call upon her feminine wisdom to any situation that may arise. A woman does not need to step into an assertive role or act like a man in order to be effective at what she does—she simply needs to get in touch with her insight and sense of compassion to truly demonstrate the depth of her strength.

Listening to the feminine side of ourselves may not seem easy at first for this type of energy is something that is often overlooked in many aspects of our everyday lives. If we can connect with this part of who we are, however, we will find that there is an unlimited wellspring of strength available to us. Our capacity to tap into our intuition and listen to our inner guides, to take into account the needs of those around us, and to view a situation with compassion and love are ways that we can show the world the true power that is part of our feminine nature. When we learn to integrate this source of strength into our daily tasks and decision-making, we will find that we can be more flexible and open to the things that happen around us and more receptive to new ideas. Not only will we see the world in a different light, but we will truly start to realize the potential for this form of energy to both empower ourselves and those around us.

As we cultivate our feminine energy we can redefine the meaning of strength. By embracing our feminine power as something that is strong in its own right, we are able to use it with true assurance and determination and draw upon what truly belongs to us.

Wishcasting Wednesday

Jaimie Ridler asked
 today for
"Where do you wish to send some love?"

I wish to send some
LOVE to my two children
 who both had
birthdays this last week.

My son turned twelve.

and my daughter turned fifteen.

Oh where does the time go?
Do you know that old saying...
"When LIFE hands
 you lemons
make lemonade"

Well today I just
don't feel like it!!
 Now I am on average
 (actually more than average)
 almost always a
positive,
happy,
optomistic person.
 I preach that to others,
but today is
just one of those days
where I want to
 feel sorry for myself.
 I didn't get the job
 that I so dearly wanted
and although I tell myself
that the UNIVERSE
has a better plan for me
it still feels like a kick to the stomach.
So tonight I am just
 going to make some
COMFORT food and
catch up on old episodes
of Grey's Anatomy.
Tomorrow will be a brighter day!

YOU CAPTURE

I seen YOU CAPTURE @ I Should Be Folding Laundry
and thought It would be fun to participate from time to time.
This week's theme is SUMMER.
Photobucket
I have had a busy week!
Projects around the yard,
a day at the beach with kids, and
my son's birthday.
 I love the view
of my backyard
from my patio door.
As you can see
I am in the process
of adding a stepping stone pathway.
In September we will
have lived in our house for a year.
I have enjoyed watching
different flowers come
out all throughout
the Spring and Summer.

My son turned 12 this week.
He chose to go fishing
 on his birthday at
his favorite spot on
the river that goes through town.
My brother and I took our kids on a road trip
 to Lake Michigan
and spent the afternoon there.

This is me with all the kids.
Every time I go by this
barn I LOVE it
so I had to pull over
and take a photo.

Family Collection #1

This is a small collection
 of colored bottles
 that I received from
my Great Aunt Lois.
I have always had
them sitting in a windowsill
somewhere in my home.
When I was a young child
  I spent a lot of
time with my Aunt.
She babysat me
while my parents
were at work.
The collection is small,
but I enjoy having
a daily reminder of her.
