Our Travel Nook

Remember this {POST} when I transformed this frame into a bulletin board for my craft space?

I am now making room for BABY and clearing out my old craft space. I picked up a box of old maps at a yard sale for $2.50 and decided to use the frame to make a travel map.

Before:

My craft space has now been condensed into a little area in our upstairs hallway. I took a couple sheets of tack board and cut them to size for the frame.

004

Cut the map to fit the tack board…

and then mod podged the map to the tack board!

My audience. She had to sit there talking my ear off. She always gets curious when mom has a project going. She just turned 16 and my son turned 13 a week before her. Add in baby and that equals starting over…yikes!

I also began adding some pins with flags to pinpoint where we have traveled.

The kids love going rock collecting on Lake Michigan. Last year they collected a couple stones that were “heart” shaped. We have a little bottle of Petoskey stones that they have collected also. Above the map frame is a shadow box filled with beach glass we collected on our many trips to Lake Michigan. I posted about it {HERE}.

I love how it turned out!
